What is a Periodontist?
A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases. A periodontist also places and maintains dental implants. Periodontics is an entire branch of dentistry dedicated to studying the tissue surrounding the teeth, researching new techniques for treating periodontal diseases, treating gum defects through periodontal plastic surgery and replacing lost teeth with dental implants. Dr. Galiano also has extensive knowledge and skill in bone regeneration.
Why Should I See a Periodontist?
More than likely, your periodontal disease has progressed to the point that a specialist, like Dr. Galiano, should treat you. Dr. Galiano has received extensive training, including two additional years of post graduate education after becoming a general dentist. During this time he learned the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal diseases and gained a detailed scientific background on all aspects of the disease.
Dr. Galiano continues to take educational courses on a regular basis. This keeps him informed of the latest techniques in dentistry, dental implants and periodontal treatments. Because of the in depth training mentioned above, Dr. Galiano possesses the skills to diagnose and treat all of your periodontal needs.

Please download, print and fill out our New Patient Information Packet, and bring it with you at the time of your initial visit to the office. Also provide the following information:
- Your referral slip and x-rays (if available) from your referring dentist.
- A list of medications you are currently taking (please note that you can fill out your patient registration and medical history form on this web page).
- If you have dental insurance, please bring any forms or insurance cards with you to the appointment.
Please Note: All patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation appointment.
Your initial visit will consist of a detailed examination. We will take any additional x-rays if needed to help complete the exam process. A consultation will usually follow and you will receive an explanation of your situation. We will also then provide you with treatment plan solutions for your needs.
During this visit we provide sufficient time to answer any of your questions. We utilize models and other visual aids to help you totally understand your situation.
Our fee’s and financial policies are explained to each patient prior to the start of treatment. Therefore you will know what your obligations are before you start treatment in most cases.
We work closely with most insurance companies. Please note that you dental insurance is a contract between your employer and you. We do not determine benefits or amounts paid. We submit dental claims electronically the day treatment is rendered. Every effort is made on our behalf so that you receive the benefits you are entitled to.
Dr. Louis L. Galiano is available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible.
If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day. We make every effort to stay on time. Waiting time in our office is rare and minimal.
